The original DIEDRON CLEAN TOWER systems offer correct and constant superfiltration of cutting oils by presenting optimal price-quality ratio when compared with other traditional systems such as agent-based filters (employing diatomic, cellulose and vegetable powders), candle filters and centrifuges.

The high concentration of microparticles present in cutting oils primarily causes wear and tear on machinery, and especially on tools. This, in turn, considerably increases machine maintenance costs, reduces the lifetime of the machine and increases tool replacement costs. In the specific case of sharpening applications (where a clean grinding wheel ensures both an excellent finish/roughness and also greater durability in terms of work-life before replacement).

The Clean Tower systems offer excellent filtering performance for both neat oils and synthetic emulsifiable oils, through a careful and constant filtration at 3-5 microns, preventing the hygienic/environmental degradation that often causes premature oil disposal. Above all, filtering effectively prevents the formation of microparticles within the tanks where they act as catalysts, combining with the EP additives and thus creating degradation mechanisms that are often irreversible.

These chemical reactions give rise to substances that are often insoluble, such as metal soaps and polymers; these increase the volume of produced sludge due to the compounding effect with the metal particles themselves.

All this inevitably deteriorates the additives (required for their anti-wear, high-pressure resistance, antioxidant properties etc.) that characterise the cutting oils, making it necessary to reactivate them when possible, or replace them totally, incurring increasing costs due to the purchase of new products and disposal of the old ones.

Furthermore, unlike diatomic systems, Clean Tower units use very low pressures (in the order of 0.4 to 0.6 bar). This prevents the cutting oils from overheating and in some cases, the use of refrigerators for machine cycle temperature control can be avoided.

DIEDRON CLEAN TOWER filters units significantly reduce waste disposal costs; in fact, in the sharpening and toolmaking sectors, the original filter cartridges allow for complete recovery the carbide filtrate (20-25 kg per cartridge). Sold on as a by-product, this raw material not only allows for recovery of the cartridge replacement costs (rather inexpensive items in any case) but even generates an extra profit of up to € 2800 per replacement.

Besides the evident cost reduction, since the cartridges are composed of iron and suitably treated cellulose that ensure optimal filtration yield, there is no disposal of toxic substances and environmental sustainability is enhanced.

Thanks to this simple and inexpensive technology, energy costs can be reduced. In fact, CLEAN TOWER SYSTEMS, unlike diatomic solutions, do not need to be constantly powered up to prevent loss and disposal of the agent, they can be halted at the end of the work cycle and re-started for the next cycle with the consumption of a single unit remaining of the order of 1 kW.

IN CONCLUSION, THE BENEFITS OF DIEDRON CLEAN TOWER SUPER-FILTRATION SYSTEMS CAN BE SUMMARISED AS FOLLOWS:

1 - They are economical - besides the low purchase price, they sustain significantly lower operating and disposal costs.

2 - Functionality - given their ease of use, the customer can simply concentrate on the production process and forgetting about auxiliary filter accessories.

3 - Reduced cleaning and maintenance operations for the machines and their tanks.

4 - Repeatable uniformity of roughness grades on machined parts and improved compliance to tolerance specifications.

5 - Modularity - the systems are expandable and can grow with the needs of the customer without volume restrictions.
